Less is more…

Less is More

Hans Christian Andersen once said, “Without God and the kindness of other people, I would be nothing at all.”  That is an accurate statement to summarize our thoughts toward Vacation Bible School.  We had so many people help in so many ways that the kindness and creativity of this entire body was represented to our kids. As DPKids Staff, we are overwhelmed with gratitude but I hesitate to begin listing our thanks as I most certainly will not do them justice.  However, in the interest of perspective, I will share some of our outrageous statistics.

63 amazing kids
49 staff members each night
245 staff positions for the week
100 campfire cupcakes
438 mini-marshmallows
5 bottles of whipped cream + 1 Brett Hensley = Pie-in-your-face Madness
300 Paper grocery bags
120 minutes of cardio-worship (thanks, Emily!)
75 glow bracelets
3 lovable puppets
275 art projects
$157 raised for Make Way Partners
7,106 square inches of duct tape!

As impressive as those stats are (and as thankful as we are to those leaders), they are not the most important numbers of the week.  The most important numbers are much lower.  In this story, less is indeed more.

Here are the most important numbers:
11 children came to know Jesus Christ as Lord.
8 children were baptized in the Holy Spirit.
2 staff members led a person to Jesus for the first time.
1 God in 3 Persons comforted the hearts of His children and changed this world forever.

In the end,
5 months of planning and
5 nights of pouring led to
5 minutes to change the world.
